The Japanese art of origami, literally meaning folding paper, has been around since the 17th century and has been a testament of human ingenuity and creativity. Dollar Bill origami is origami using dollars. Origami is an art form where a plain sheet of paper is turned into different shapes and figures through folding techniques and without use of cutting and gluing. In the modern age, it has grown in popularity even in the Western culture. There are also many kinds and forms of origami, including moving origami, origami pieces that can be put together like a puzzle to form a new shape, and even origami that have smooth, curved edges in contrast to the usual sharp geometric shapes of traditional origami.

Origami’s popularity stems from its versatility to make aesthetic and holiday pieces, including Christmas decors, and not to mention, that the pieces are cheap to make. They also make very unique gifts that are sure to please friends and family. It is also used in industries like in hotels, where some staff employ origami to indicate that a room has been cleaned, and even in scientific fields like making study models for mathematical and technical origami.

In the United States, one popular form of the art is folding money.
